The Customer is King

Self-made businessman Mark Helman had a vision. His idea was to open a carpet sales and showroom that focused heavily on the customer experience – giving everyone who walked in the door the friendly attention they deserve, prices they could afford, and quality flooring that kept them coming back. And it worked.

We take pride in continuing Mark’s legacy of providing the highest level of quality, value and personal attention. And we know he would be proud to see that after a half century in business, his company is still one that is known for treating our customers as neighbors and friends.

Our History

Operating on the philosophy that “The Customer is King” Mark opened the first store in 1960, and watched his vision evolve and prosper over the years as the business continued to expand throughout the region.

In the 1970’s, bargain outlets gained in popularity and Mark answered his customers’ need for the outlet experience by opening a new chain of warehouse stores called Bill’s Carpet Warehouse. The stores saw amazing success over the next two decades, expanding to the Washington suburbs.

In the 1990’s, Carpet Fair and Bill’s Carpet merged to form Bill’s Carpet Fair and featured a showroom as well as in-stock flooring.

As online shopping became commonplace in the 2000’s, customers began to request a more in-home shopping experience. So once again, Mark answered the call and created a new division. He named it Next Day Floors, and by 2014 all stores would carry this name.

Today, Next Day Floors offers customers the opportunity to shop at one of our 6 showrooms or have one of our knowledgeable associates bring samples to their homes.
